The idea of The Snail was conceived over lunch when brainstorming for the 48 hour film challenge that UW Stout was hosting. Someone had brought up the popular internet scenario in which you would get a million dollars but have a snail constantly moving towards you that would kill you if you came in contact with it.

With that idea Cody Olson had taken to writing a short script with Liam Edel set to direct. Due to the new and mostly inexperienced crew most of the script was improvised and jokes added in as production ran on.

Even though the tight schedule and hastily put together production pointed to a dud the film turned out to be a not half bad comedy satire. It would go on to win the 2025 UW Stout 48 hour film challenge and cement itself as Focal Point Studio's first production.
