Texas Fold-em

Texas Fold ‘Em (2026) is actually a remake of a film of the same name released in 2025. The two films were created by the same person: writer/director Cody Olson. Initially Cody didn’t want to make the remake, but was eventually convinced by his friend and fellow Focal Point Studios founder Liam Edel. Cody was entertained by the idea of treating the remake as an experiment to show how far he has come as a filmmaker after one year of film school. In the original, Cody played the entire cast and because he didn’t own any professional equipment, the whole thing was shot on an iPhone. The remake, however, was able to hire a cast, rent out a location, and was able to get shot on real cameras. 

The whole production took place in Sal’s Angus Grill, a western-themed bar located in Stillwater Minnesota. The film was shot over two days and the cast and crew totaled out to be fifteen people, one of the largest in Focal Point Studio history to this day. Because the film was set during the Wild West, the crew had to acquire period accurate clothing and props, usually at antique stores and even borrowing some personal items from the crew. Some of the clothes in the final film appeared to be weathered, this look was achieved by using a needle to tear the clothing’s edges which was done by Cody himself.

Texas Fold ‘Em was the first film in Focal Point Studio’s history to employ the use of a visual storyboard animatic, which was drawn and edited by Cody using storyboarding software. The animatic was very useful to the cast and crew in order to get a grasp of Cody’s final vision. The full storyboard animatic is posted on Cody’s Youtube channel or click the link below to view.
